Like all of Vake’s activities, investment activities are also closely linked with Vake’s themes. Our aim is to find companies representing the best in their respective fields and have the capacity to grow into the frontrunners of their ecosystems.
Vake’s investments are particularly targeted at unlisted companies who need an injection of capital to scale up from a promising technology business to an international frontrunner attractive to investors. Vake also invests in a variety of different companies and funds to speed up the general development within the business ecosystem.
Investment operations are a central tool for Vake in asserting its long-term impact on its core areas instead of only maximising quick returns on investments. This means that companies can rely on the backing of a long-term proactive owner.
During autumn 2019, The Finnish State Development Company Vake’s strategy will be specified together with the owner, which may cause some changes in our operations in the future. We will keep you informed as the process moves forward.
I am looking for funding for my business – should I speak to Vake?
Before you contact Vake with a proposal, here are a few things to consider:
Is your core business in line with Vake’s themes, such as AI in Healthcare?
Vake channels all its input through its themes, and practical investment decisions are processed according to the priorities of each theme and programme. If your business falls outside the scope of our themes, it may be more useful to talk to Business Finland or Tesi (Finnish Industry Investment Ltd).
Is your company a start-up or an established business ready to scale up?
Vake focuses mainly on established companies who need added capacity to scale up to access international markets or boost domestic growth.
Can Vake subsidise my business?
As such, Vake does not grant subsidies or financial assistance to businesses. These are available through Business Finland or the Centres for Economic Development, Transport and the Environment.
